Gather the Community Breakfasts

The Madison Branch of Women's International League of Peace and Freedom invites you to join our breakfast series hosted by Linden Co-Housing. Each breakfast is a place for activists to come together, connect, converse, and engage with a topic affecting the peace and freedom of our world. Featured speakers present their passion and work and lead a discussion about how we, as a community, can take action and contribute to solutions. Vegetarian breakfast buffet served.The cost of the breakfast is $20, with a sliding scale of $10 - $20.(Cash or Check)Funds are used to provide an honorarium to our guest speakerand to further the work of Madison WILPF.

Brenda Konkel - Executive Director Madison Street MedicineBrenda has an over thirty-year history of activism, advocacy, and non-profit work in Madison. She is a passionate believer that housing is a human right and that houselessness can be solved if there is the political will. She was instrumental in developing the city-owned campground run by Madison Street Medicine, as well as the three tiny house villages for people experiencing houselessness that are self-governed by members and residents of Occupy Madison. She has a law degree from UW-Madison, was Executive Director of the Tenant Resource Center for 23 years, is a co-founder of the Social Justice Center, Occupy Madison, Inc., and the Affordable Housing Action Alliance. She is also a former Madison City Council member (2001-2009), blogger, WORT community radio and WYOU community television host and volunteer, videographer, and editor.
